Refund Policy

Genre Savvied is committed to providing high-quality editorial services and client satisfaction. This refund policy outlines the circumstances under which refunds may be issued and the process for requesting them. Please note: Due to the nature of the instant delivery of digital downloads, it is not possible to receive refunds for these products.

1. Deposit Policy

Non-Refundable Deposit: A deposit of 50% (as specified in your project agreement) is required to secure your project slot and begin work. This deposit is non-refundable once work has commenced, as it compensates for time reserved, initial manuscript review, and project setup.

Pre-Work Cancellation: If you cancel before any editorial work begins, the deposit may be refunded minus a $50 administrative fee.

2. Full Project Cancellations

Client-Initiated Cancellation

Before Work Begins: Full refund minus administrative fees if cancelled within 48 hours of agreement signing and before any work has started.

Emergency Circumstances: Refunds for genuine emergencies (medical, family crisis, etc.) will be considered on a case-by-case basis with appropriate documentation.

Editor-Initiated Cancellation

If Genre Savvied must cancel a project due to scheduling conflicts, illness, or other circumstances beyond our control, clients will receive a full refund of all payments made.

3. Quality Concerns

Revision Process: If you’re unsatisfied with the quality of work, I’ll first attempt to resolve concerns through the included revision process.

Unresolvable Quality Issues: If quality concerns cannot be resolved through revisions and the work fails to meet the standards outlined in your agreement, a partial refund may be issued based on the extent of the issues and work completed.

4. Rush Project Cancellations

Projects with rush delivery timelines (less than standard turnaround) have modified cancellation terms:

  • Rush fee is non-refundable once work begins
  • Standard refund percentages apply to base editing fee only

5. Refund Process

Request Timeline: Refund requests must be submitted within 30 days of project completion or cancellation.

Written Request Required: All refund requests must be submitted in writing via email, including:

  • Project details and agreement reference
  • Reason for refund request
  • Supporting documentation (if applicable)

Processing Time: Approved refunds will be processed within 10-14 business days via the original payment method.

6. Non-Refundable Circumstances

Refunds will not be issued for:

  • Completed projects delivered according to agreement specifications
  • Client dissatisfaction with editorial feedback or suggestions (as opposed to quality of editing work)
  • Changes in client publishing plans or timeline
  • Market rejection of manuscript after editing
  • Failure to provide requested clarifications or respond to editorial queries
  • Violation of terms of service by client
